[ Yuji strokes the side of the egg, which seems to be... Wiggling? Leaning back against Megumi, he smiles. ]

It's a baby, so we'll need to take care of it.

[mahoraga]

I don't think the mother is coming back for it, so we might have to care for it until it's big enough.

[ Whatever this egg may turn out to be. Megumi snuggles in closer, hands cupping over Yuji's and offering the egg his won warmth as well. ]

Did it just move?

Huh, did it?

[ Lifting the egg, his eyes widen as it twitches, and it seems like there might be a hole appearing. ]

Megumi, look!

[ Yuji doesn't even need to grab his attention. Megumi is staring intently, a sort of twinkle and wonder in his eyes that isn't often seen. It isn't often he gets to see a creature hatch right out of its egg. As an animal lover, it's always going to be an awesome sight. There's a lot of cynicism he has directed at the world, but the start of a new life will always be something he finds a beautiful thing. ]

Oh ... [ One piece of egg shell falls off and onto Yuji's lap. ]

[ Eyes widening, Yuji pulls the egg closer as a little... Arm? Pops out? ]

Woah!

[ Leaning forward, he grins. ]

It's okay! We're here, you can come out!

[ Megumi leans forward with curiousity as well, watching in some awe as a few large pieces of shell fall off the creature's head and its face is finally revealed. He's never seen a creature like this before, but it's so cute he's hardly in the mood to be pondering about what it is and where it's come from.

Tentatively, he offers it a finger, stroking its head gently. Though subtle, the corner of his lips curve into a soft smile. ]

No need to be scared.

[ Yuji's eyes widen as he leans close, and the little creature makes a soft noise, wiggling in his hands. His laugh is bright and excited as he turns to look at Megumi, it's little hands reaching up to try and get Megumi's finger. ]

It's so cute!

[ Beaming, he reaches to take it's hand. ]

Hi there! Welcome to the world!

[ The little hands reaching out for his finger ... This is cute to the point it's criminal. Megumi lets it rest its little hand on his finger. ]

I've never seen anything like him -- or her. [ He can't tell, honestly. ]

Are you a girl or a boy, huh?

[ Leaning down, Yuji nudges their noses together. ]

What're we gonna call you?

[ Watching Yuji nudge his face against that of the creature definitely fills Megumi's heart with fondness. Their new friend is so cute, and Yuji looks so happy. Is there honestly anything better than this? ]

You should name them. [ He'll have to go read up on what this creature is and how to tell its gender. ]

You found them after all.

[ Yuji leans back, gently stroking the head of the strange little creature in front of them.

A name... It's not that simple, is it? ]

I don't know what would work!

[mahoraga]

[ Between them both, he thinks Yuji has more creativity. ]

Maybe a name you think suits them, or something meaningful to you?

Hmm...

[ Yuji tilts his head, looking at the squirming little creature. ]

I'll think about it, okay?

[mahoraga]

There's no rush. [ He considers briefly, then lifts a hand to pat his friend on the head. No need to stress about that. ]

We should take a trip to the library to see if we can find out we need to provide proper care.

[eyescar]

[ Yuji leans into the touch, turning to smile. ]

Yeah! You can come with us, can't you, hm?

[ He lifts the little creature up and it seems to squeal with glee. ]

That's right!

[mahoraga]

[ This is a 10/10 scene he's looking at right here. He doesn't put up the '10' placard but it is up in his heart. ]

Do you want to go today?

[eyescar]

We can wait until the morning, can't we? It might be nice to let her settle in.

[mahoraga]

[ Makes sense. ]

Where will she be sleeping tonight, then?

[eyescar]

Oh, I didn't think about that.

[ Now he's embarrassed! ]

We could let her pick?

[mahoraga]

I was wondering ...

[ He ponders briefly if he should bring this up. They're quite comfortable together, so where was the harm, right? ]

If you want to start sharing a room permanently.

[eyescar]

[ Woah... This is pretty forward of Megumi, and Yuji turns to look at him with wide eyes. ]

You really want to?

[ It's something he's been thinking about for a while. They share a bed from time to time, and he always feels comfortable cuddling with Yuji. It's less confusing if they have a set place they can sleep in together, instead if wonder whether or not Yuji is going to wander into his room that night or not (or if he's going to shyly knock at Yuji's door). Plus, he gets to keep an eye on him.

It's a lot of words that really say 'He just wants to do this'.

Megumi stares blankly at Yuji for a second, then breaks out into a quiet fluster and pushes his face away. ]

Don't make a big deal out of it. It just makes sense ...

[ It does make practical sense, but there's also a little sense of it being a big step. Being together and sharing a bed feel like two very different things, but they've shared enough night times together that it feels natural, too.

It's all sort of confusing for Yuji, who is definitely overwhelmed by how much he wants this but also a touch of desperation about it. He doesn't want to do anything that might jeopardise this in any shape or form. ]

Yeah, it does. Especially now we have a baby to look after.

[ He nudges Megumi gently. ]

Which room?

[mahoraga]

Mine. It's already organised.

[ Or, organised to his liking, is the more accurate way to put it. This feels like ... a rather big step, and he's trying his best not to think about it. It makes sense, anyway. ]

The baby can sleep with us for tonight, but you need to be careful not to thrash about.

[eyescar]

Okay, sounds good.

[ Yuji wiggles his fingers in front of the egg-creature's face, beaming. ]

I'll be careful, won't I, little Mimi-chan?
