[ Something's not right here. It's not just the enhanced senses he's developed after taking that potion. From their history together, Megumi can tell that something isn't quite right. Yes, Gojo checks up on him from time to time, but he's usually much more flippant and chipper about it. No jokes this time or a silly souvenir? There's a somber sort of aura.

Megumi stops closer and inspects his face, tugging at the side of his shirt to get his attention. ]

( he should have known that megumi would know something wasn't right the moment he stepped through the door, but knowing it hadn't stopped him from coming, anyway; he hasn't quite figured out how he's going to say what he needs to get off of his chest to begin with, but the younger fussing over him, asking him if he's okay gives him time enough to stall to think of how to open.

but how exactly does one admit to killing another's parent?

megumi tugs at his shirt and he peers down at him, unguarded, having long since abandoned the futile need for his blindfold or even his glasses, and maybe … that's going to be what ends up giving him away. he smiles, genuine as it always is when he looks at him, but there is no denying that there's something else hiding underneath. )

[ They've been together long enough for Megumi to pick up on those cracks beneath his mentor's cheerful demeanor. Megumi's a perceptive person, even if he doesn't always know the right thing to say to comfort others. He can tell that something isn't right. However, he's not the sort to push very hard for an answer when the other person isn't ready to give him one. ]

You're quieter than usual. [ There's another little tug and he leads Gojo to the living room to sit. ]

( of course they've been around one another for so long that both of them would be able to pick up on the smallest things, it's something he's personally prided himself on from the moment he could tell when megumi was upset and not telling him why, or when he was angry and not telling him why, or when he wanted affection as a small child and would not let himself ask for it.

( those last instances … were more rare, of course they were with this one near-constantly pulling him into an embrace or ruffling his hair, pinching his cheek affectionately. when megumi wanted attention, there was always something more dire laying just underneath. )

[ It sounds like something that's weighing heavy on Gojo's heart, and for that, he gets Megumi's full attention. The boy settles on the couch beside the taller man, turning to face him. What could this be about? It's rare that he sees the older man a bit lost or imbalanced. He's usually the kind prepared for anything.

With Megumi's pessimistic personality, he does start to assume the worst. If his mentor has a difficult conversation to broach, and it's clearly pertaining to Megumi himself, is there something he's not happy about? Maybe he has some sort of grievance to bring up with Megumi, but he's nervous about how Megumi will take it. If he does have a grievance, wouldn't that be justified too? After all, he's been raising Megumi on his own dollar and time since he was a child. And Megumi had the audacity to omit something important about their lives back home. Maybe he's unhappy about any of those things after all?

This makes him a bit nervous, but he doesn't let that show on his face. ]
